STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擫uca Vullo, an internationally recognized Italian linguist, is bringing his popular nonverbal communication workshop to Mississippi State.

Free and open to all, his Jan. 21 presentation is part of the 2015-16 Distinguished Lecture Series of the classical and modern languages and literatures department. The university鈥檚 communication department also is a sponsor.

Titled 鈥淭he Italian Gestures between Stereotypes, Language and Culture,鈥 the program begins at 4:30 p.m. in Thompson Hall鈥檚 Tully Auditorium.

His remarks will be accompanied by 鈥淭he Voice of the Body,鈥 a short film he wrote and directed that humorously explains the 鈥減eculiar non-verbal code of communication that makes Sicilians (and Italians) famous throughout the world.鈥

A native of the Province of Caltanissetta now residing in England, Vullo has become widely known for his interactive approaches to educating audiences on nonverbal communication strategies, with a special emphasis on Italian expressions, gestures and general communication.
