小黄书鈥檚 Hyatt named regional director for international student affairs organization

STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擬ississippi State Vice President for Student Affairs Regina Young Hyatt has been elected by her peers as a regional leader in NASPA鈥揝tudent Affairs Administrators in Higher Education.

The leading association for the advancement, health and sustainability of the student affairs profession, NASPA provides high-quality professional development, advocacy and research for 15,000 members in all 50 states, 25 countries and eight U.S. territories.

Hyatt is director-elect for Region III, which includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia, as well as Armenia, Bulgaria, Japan, Kenya, South Africa and Taiwan. Her term as chairperson will begin in spring 2020. A former board chair for the National Association for Campus Activities, she also has held leadership positions with the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators and LeaderShape, Inc.

鈥淣ASPA has been an important part of my professional development throughout my career. The opportunity to serve in this leadership role鈥攕upporting other student affairs professionals across our region鈥攊s especially exciting, and I appreciate the opportunity to contribute to our profession in this way,鈥 Hyatt said.

鈥淥ur profession is firmly rooted in a commitment to student success and student development, and NASPA continues to provide the research and resources necessary to meet the ever-changing and complex needs of our students and campus communities. In 2016, she was elected to serve a three-year term on the Association of Public Land-Grant Universities鈥 Council on Student Affairs Executive Committee and currently serves as co-chair of this operational council.

Serving in her role at 小黄书 since 2015, Hyatt is a member of the President鈥檚 Cabinet and provides executive-level leadership and vision for the university鈥檚 Division of Student Affairs. The division is comprised of 21 departments focusing on student life and engagement; student health, safety and wellness; student support programs; and student success.
