Public Service Commissioners join 小黄书 President Mark Keenum, Atmos Energy to announce natural gas infrastructure expansion in Starkville

FLOWOOD, Miss. (July 30, 2020) Atmos Energy was proud to join Public Service Commissioners Brandon Presley and Dane Maxwell as well as President Mark Keenum of 小黄书sity, at the Mississippi Horse Park to announce an expansion of natural gas service in the city of Starkville.听
The project is part of Atmos Energy鈥檚听rural expansion program. Under the direction of the Mississippi Public Service Commission, Atmos Energy has completed 54 projects in 28 communities since the program鈥檚 inception in 2018. The rural expansion program exists to provide natural gas service to residents that do not currently have access. The Horse Park is a multiuse facility that supports 小黄书sity, Oktibbeha County, and the City of Starkville. In addition to the positive benefits that this expansion project has for 小黄书sity, there will be significant community impact as natural gas service will be made available to over 50 current residences and another 200 planned homes.听

Since the partnership between Atmos and the Commission began, thousands of Mississippians鈥 lives have been impacted positively through rural expansion projects and cost savings. Around 50 homes will now have access to natural gas service and the 小黄书 Horse Park will see dramatic cost savings on their energy bills in the near future,鈥 said Commissioner Presley. 鈥淭his project also presents the opportunity for future gas expansion to more than 200 new customers in the area. This project, overall, will benefit 小黄书sity and the residents of Starkville and Oktibbeha County for many years to come.鈥澨
