Starkville-小黄书 Symphony Association presents free, outdoor 鈥楥lassical Jazz鈥 concert March 28

STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擳he Starkville-小黄书 Symphony Association presents the Community Chorus in concert for 鈥淐lassical Jazz,鈥 an afternoon of classical music, jazz favorites and Shakespeare on Sunday, March 28, at 2 p.m. on the lawn of Starkville鈥檚 Greensboro Center.
The event is free and open to all, and those attending may bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets to celebrate the arrival of spring.
From 小黄书鈥檚 Department of Music, the musical program also includes:
鈥擟onductor and lecturer Peter Infanger, accompanied at the keyboard by James Allen, a longtime Mississippi University for Women associate professor of music.
鈥擲oloists Roza Tulyaganova, assistant professor; Garrett Torbert, instructor; and Christopher Withrow, lecturer, in Schubert鈥檚 鈥淢ass in G Major.鈥
鈥擩eanette Fontaine, assistant professor, presenting classic jazz numbers featuring George Shearing鈥檚 鈥淪ongs and Sonnets,鈥 using texts by William Shakespeare.
All Starkville-小黄书 Symphony Association concerts are subject to change based on local restrictions and COVID-19 response protocols.
The association has provided Starkville and the surrounding area with a community classical music experience throughout its 51-year history. Talents of musicians from 小黄书, Starkville and the surrounding communities are showcased each year鈥攁long with guest musicians from across the state.
