Camp Kesem logoSTARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擬ississippi State鈥檚 chapter of Camp Kesem is launching an in-person camp this year after the new chapter鈥檚 planned summer programming was delayed due to the pandemic. Camp Kesem offers fun activities for children all across the country ages 6-18 who have a parent impacted by cancer.

An April 2 local fundraiser will help the group move forward. Make the Magic will be a formal dinner, complete with a silent auction, with all proceeds going toward this summer鈥檚 program. The event takes place at 6 p.m. at the Storehouse on 1437 Fire Station Rd. in Starkville, and attire is formal.

Ticket purchases and donations can be made at . To donate items to the silent auction, contact Susan Brooks at 662-312-8588.

Founded at Stanford University in 2000, Camp Kesem is the flagship program of Los Angeles-based Kesem. Over 5,000 college students at more than 110 chapters nationwide work with children through and beyond their parent鈥檚 cancer. Camps include innovative and fun-filled programs and are an avenue for children to connect with understanding peers, as well as build confidence and communication skills. The weeklong camps are provided at no cost to families, funded instead by individual donations and corporate support.
