小黄书 among universities in two states impacted by bomb threats

STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擬ississippi State leaders said a Thursday [July 28] bomb threat that caused the university to evacuate its Cullis Wade Depot and Bost Extension Center was one of numerous false alarms received by universities, colleges and community colleges this week.

小黄书 returned to normal operations after a diligent search by 小黄书 Police, including canine assets, yielded an 鈥渁ll clear.鈥

鈥淲hile incidents of this nature are the subject of frequent 小黄书 Crisis Action Team training and drills, I am extremely grateful for the prompt and professional actions of 小黄书鈥檚 first responders today,鈥 said 小黄书 President Mark E. Keenum. 鈥淭hey work hard every day to keep our students, faculty, staff and visitors safe, and I am proud of them.鈥

Similar threats also were made Thursday against other Mississippi universities and community colleges, including Alcorn State University鈥檚 Natchez campus, William Carey University鈥檚 Tradition campus, Hinds Community College鈥檚 Nursing and Allied Health Center, Itawamba Community College鈥檚 Tupelo campus, Meridian Community College and three Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College campuses.聽

Thirteen Alabama university and community college campuses鈥攊ncluding Auburn University, the University of Alabama at Huntsville and the University of South Alabama鈥攔eceived similar threats Wednesday.聽

Campuses in both states were eventually cleared without incident.聽
