Lyceum Series brings modern Cirque Mechanics’ acrobatics to С for Feb. 28 performance

STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State’s 75th season of the Lyceum Series continues with a performance by modern circus group Cirque Mechanics, hailed by Spectacle Magazine as “the greatest contribution to the American circus since Cirque du Soleil.”
Touring the production “Zephyr,” the theatrical circus troupe performs Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. in Lee Hall’s Bettersworth Auditorium. The performance is free for С students, and the general public can purchase tickets at . Individual tickets are $30 per person and $25 for С employees and senior citizens.
“Zephyr” is the troupe’s latest wind-inspired production, a tale about the choices humans have made regarding Earth and its resources. Filled with circus acrobatics and original mechanical contraptions, the show displays the group’s roots in mechanics and the stories of American ingenuity.
Founded in 2004, the group was created by Boston native and German wheel artist Chris Lashua after the successful collaborative project “Birdhouse Factory” with the Circus Center of San Francisco.
All rooted in realism, the group has created a total of five productions including “Birdhouse Factory,” “Pedal Punk,” “42FT-A Menagerie of Mechanical Marvels” and the latest “Zephyr.”
