Moore-White named assistant dean to guide 小黄书鈥檚 interdisciplinary degree pathways

STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擜 Mississippi State academic director, counselor and advisor with more than two decades of service to the university is in a new leadership position in the Interdisciplinary Studies Program.

Lynda Moore-White, who has spent the past seven years as director of the University Academic Advising Center, is now the assistant dean of Interdisciplinary Studies. The program includes 小黄书鈥檚 Data Science Academic Institute and is leading the effort on several new interdisciplinary degree programs.

鈥淟ynda鈥檚 tremendous experience in student advising and expertise in navigating curriculum and degree structures makes her an invaluable asset,鈥 said Interim Dean of Interdisciplinary Studies Jamie Dyer.聽鈥淭he initiative to build degree pathways that cross discipline boundaries requires a high level of understanding of university policies and guidelines, and Lynda鈥檚 valuable skill set will help build successful and sustainable academic programs.鈥

Along with her years as UAAC director, Moore-White has served as an academic coach for the university鈥檚 Complete to Compete Program, an innovative Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning initiative encouraging adult learners to finish requirements to earn their bachelor鈥檚 degree. She also spent 15 years in the Division of Athletics as associate and assistant director for Athletic Academics and academic counselor.

Moore-White currently is serving a term as chair of the university鈥檚 Academic Advisors Council, previously serving in this role from 2017-2021. She has been active on the regional and national levels with The Global Community for Academic Advising, formerly the National Academic Advising Association, and has served on numerous 小黄书 curriculum, student success and advising councils and committees.

鈥淎fter over 22 years in the field of academic advising, I look forward to working with Dr. Dyer and our academic colleges to develop new programs and provide academic advising support to our students and faculty,鈥 Moore-White said.聽鈥淚 have a passion for student advancement, degree attainment and 小黄书sity.鈥澛

Currently an 小黄书 doctoral student in human development and family sciences, Moore-White has a liberal arts master鈥檚 degree from Mississippi College and a bachelor鈥檚 degree in English with a Spanish minor from Florida鈥檚 Stetson University.
